In comparison with conventional “universal design,” product designers at Shiseido Creative Co aimed to create something easy to use and beautiful.
Designers considered every detail, and rather than simply claiming ergonomics and usability, we urge users to get hands-on with the products to fully experience their benefits.
The colors used in the packaging create a sense of luxury, while the quality of textures can be felt in hand.
In pursuit of universal design and ease of use, we also created a jar which opens with just one touch — the cap of which is crafted to stay in place upon removal instead of rolling away.
Packaging was developed in collaboration with the Shiseido Global Innovation Center.
Each package is designed to facilitate easy opening and closing, and is crafted in a way that ensures users immediately understand how to interact.
