A series of unique artwork was created with the aim of reawakening the desire for makeup in 2021.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the use of facemasks, global demand for makeup declined. This also impacted brand SHISEIDO.
In response, the Shiseido Creative Co crafted these bold and beautiful visuals as a means of inspiring and empowering global consumers to rediscover makeup.
Focusing on SHISEIDO lipsticks, which offer ultimate perfection in terms of color, shape, luster, texture, and fragrance, we took super close-up photos of their 1cm tips.
These were then blown up to visuals around 100 times larger than the lipsticks.
Each visual shows SHISEIDO’s passion for beauty, and even in such detail, the products look perfect. No rough edges, no imperfections.
The tagline translates to: ”Shiseido Beauty. Even something this small has the power to empower million.”
The images also highlight Japan’s unique sense of aesthetics, with backgrounds like those of ukiyoe prints, the active use of blank space (“MA”) and the powerful sense of depth.
