A symbol of life force, the earth wreath.
Shiseido celebrates its 150th anniversary with this window artwork that will conclude the year 2022.
The artwork will be decorated with the "Earth Wreath," a wreath that pays homage to the earth, which produces a variety of expressions in the natural world.
Coniferous trees, which remain lush and green even in winter, have long been a symbol of vitality and a prayer for a bountiful harvest. We created this work in the hope that by covering the earth with conifers, Christmas will be a time to reflect on the bounty of the earth.
Japan is one of the most forested countries in the world, with about 70% of its land area covered by forests and mountains.
It is also a volcanic country, with 10% of the world's volcanoes concentrated in the country, and its characteristic landforms, such as caldera lakes, can be seen. Japan's beautiful landforms and life, created by the workings of nature over a long period of time, are a gift of all things. We are blessed by them.
The city side of the window features a wreath of lush coniferous trees and a new bridge-colored caldera lake, while the store side features a snowy landscape covered with coniferous trees, expressing the richness of nature's ever-changing expressions. Powdered sugar is used for the snow as an ingredient unique to a confectionery store.
